Drivers who hold a full car licence by passing their test before 1st February 2001 hold unconditional full moped entitlement.
Drivers of a full car licence obtained on or after 1st February 2001, who do not already hold a full moped or motorcycle licence, must hold a valid DL196 (CBT) to validate their full moped entitlement.
If a valid DL196 (CBT) is already held when the car test is passed, the full moped entitlement will be validated immediately
A DL196 (CBT) validating full moped entitlement on a full car licence will remain valid for mopeds for the life of the licence. It is therefore particularly important the the DL196 (CBT) is kept safe.
