We have a fantastic team that includes some of the most friendly and enthusiastic training instructors in the industry. We have both male and female instructors with a huge amount of experience and knowledge who will make you feel comfortable right from the off and will ensure you go into your test fully prepared. Shirley is a DAS qualified instructor who joined the team a few years ago and has helped many students start out on their motorcycling career. Her calm and highly professional manner makes her an invaluable member of the school. She has a keen interest in off road and adventure riding and has achieved great things in mountains of Wales and the deserts of Morocco. Shirley has trained with Patsy Quick, the lady Paris/Dakar finisher, and also 7 times Dakar finisher Simon Pavey. Shirley thinks nothing of powering up 60 metre high sand dunes in the Sahara Desert!!
Ros established IRT in 1997 and has been instrumental in the development of the training school from a very small start, with just the proprietor and two motorcycles, to being the largest school of its kind in East Anglia, without compromising the reputation or customer care that the school is built on. Ros is a highly qualified motorcyclist, being one of the first woman in the UK to qualify with the DSA as a Direct Access Instructor. Ros also holds a ROSPA Diploma in Advanced Motorcycle Instruction at the highest level and gained a BTEC in Advanced Motorcycle Tuition. Ros has trained and worked with some of the UK’s top instructors.
Rob is a DAS qualified instructor with a vast experience of motorcycling having both worked as a courier in London and as a motorcycle instructor in the Cambridge area. He has also enjoyed success at club racing.
He was featured in Bike Magazine Ultimate Rider as a finalist.  He is an IAM advanced rider and has achieved accreditation status with the MCIAC. He has a calm and professional attitude to teaching and is a popular instructor with students preparing for their full license. His pass rate for full test is consistently high.
Graham is one of our most popular team members, Graham is a fully qualified DAS instructor and member of Suffolk Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists He is a full member of the IAM and has attained their highest level of qualification as in now on the IAM F1RST register and has also achieved accreditation status with the MCIAC. Graham has an extensive background in teaching within the higher education engineering field and has excellent communication skills. He has an ability to explain complicated concepts in a very clear way and this coupled with his natural attentiveness makes him a very successful and talented instructor.
Mike is a full time DAS instructor and has also passed the Diamond Advanced motorcycle test and also Michael has also achieved accreditation status with the MCIAC.  He has successfully taught literally hundreds of new motorcyclists their first steps on a bike. He has been riding motorcycles for many years riding motor cross since the age of 11. Michael has worked with young people through the Princes Trust helping them to achieve their dreams through music. He now now brings this insight into his work in motorcycle teaching. Michael enhances the team with his tireless commitment to student progress.
Chris has many years of motorcycling experience behind him. He originally joined our team in 2002 and gained his DSA Qualifications to Direct Access level by 2005. Chris then progressed into teaching students as a freelance instructor gaining more qualifications over the next few years. He has now rejoined our team in 2014 bringing all this experience with him as well as his bubbly cheerful personality. We are pleased to have him back in fold. Chris holds a BTEC in Advanced Motorcycle Instruction and car driving. He is a qualified Red Cross First Aider and has passed the “First Bike on Scene” course with the Lancs Ambulance Service . Chris has certificates at Advanced Level motorcycling with both ROSPA and the IAM and is an examiner for the Diamond Advanced motorcycling scheme. In addition Chris is on the DSA's register of Post Test Qualified Instructors – a course certificate taken with Chris under this scheme can result in a reduction in your insurance premium.
Burt is a DVSA approved DAS instructor and brings to the school his warm personality and humour. He is a very popular instructor with pupils who like a relaxed and calm approach to their learning. Burt has a wealth of specialist road training and qualifications in his background and is a member of the Suffolk Advanced Motorcyclists and a full member of the IAM having passed their advanced test.
Rob is a DAS qualified instructor and has worked with IRT for several years.
He has excellent communication skills and coupled with his relaxed, but professional approach, make him a popular choice for students at all levels. Rob’s pass rate at full test level is excellent.
When not teaching Rob enjoys track days and the racing scene.
Mark is a highly trained and experienced road user. Professionally trained in specialist roadcraft techniques, Mark has spent many years coaching others. He began riding bikes as many have – starting in his teens on mopeds and small bikes before moving up to bigger bikes. Mark is involved in the racing scene assisting in marshalling and can usually be found at the TT Races each summer. He is also a successful professional trainer on courses challenging poor attitude to road safety issues. Since joining and enhancing our Instructor team in November as a CBT Instructor Mark has proved very popular with his students.
Luke is a passionate motorcyclist and began riding at the age of 13. He gained his proper road licence here at Ipswich Rider Training many years ago and joined our CBT Delivery Team as an instructor in November – truly home grown! He has 2 children and loves to share biking adventures with them. Luke has a gentle, kind manner which makes him popular with those he teaches.
Clive joined IRT in September 2017 as a CBT Instructor, with a view to becoming a DAS Instructor later in 2018.
He has been riding motorcycles for the last 30 years in which time he has gained a great deal of knowledge. Clive is also member of The Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists.
For the last few years Clive has been organising and running Motorcycle tours around the UK & Europe Switzerland, France & Italy. He brings this knowledge with him enabling IRT to now offer UK and European Motorcycle Tours!!
Mark joined our team as a CBT Instructor in November 2016 and brings with him a vast amount of experience. His background originally in the Forces and Emergency Services has expanded to becoming a professional teacher. He has had a variety of classic motorcycles and currently owns a Harley Davidson. Mark is a very competent instructor and has worked hard with all of his students to help them achieve their dreams. His work with students with special needs is notable and his calm and confident manner makes him first choice for many CBT students.
